The EFQM process helps organisations assess and improve their performance.

In receiving the Four-Star award, East Midlands Trains has demonstrated that it has delivered excellent and sustainable results across all areas of the Excellence Model.

A team of assessors visited East Midlands Trains in April, conducting a range of interviews and studying the company’s work processes.

They also hosted focus groups, conducted interviews, assessed written procedures, field visits to locations including Nottingham, Derby and Etches park depot and paid informal visits to frontline staff throughout the network.

David Horne, East Midlands Trains’ Commercial Director, said:

“Being awarded a prestigious four-star rating on our first application is a real achievement.

“It reflects the commitment of our people to achieving the highest level of business excellence and delivering good service to our passengers.”

The EFQM areas assessment looks at areas such as strategic planning, leadership, people, and customers.
