Sofia orders Inspiro metro trains

Listen to this article

Sofia Metro has signed a contract with a Siemens-Newag consortium to supply 20 three-car Inspiro trains.

The new trains, and a supporting traffic control system, will be delivered within three years, Newag has said.

Based on the Inspiro units supplied to Warsaw, the interior fit-out and maintenance will be carried out at Newag’s Nowy Sącz plant.

The order includes an option for 10 additional vehicles.

The first new trains will begin operating in the Bulgarian capital in 2018.
