TramForward ‘welcomes Scottish Government intervention’ in Edinburgh Tram project

Listen to this article

TramForward has welcomed Scottish Ministers’ intervention in the project management of Edinburgh Tram.

The Scottish Government and ‘all parties have shown a pragmatic approach to the management of this project’.

By directing Transport Scotland to oversee the execution of the project it is hoped that value for money can be obtained, design savings can be realised and the project completion delivered as early as is practicable.

Edinburgh Council ‘is also to be congratulated’ in securing a new deal with the main contractor, Bilfinger Berger, after extended negotiations, TramForward said.

TramForward ‘trusts that the project can now proceed without further delay and at last bring the long awaited tram service to the people of Edinburgh’.
