Virgin Trains’ staff at Stockport station helped organise a family fun day on July 17th to raise funds for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity, the official charity of Virgin Trains.

Customer service assistant Niki Abnett came up with the idea and was able to arrange for a VT class 57 to stable in the station, allowing visitors to climb up onto the footplate (the horn proving very popular with the children).

Other attractions included model railways and stalls selling books and DVDs.

Niki said :

“Planning for the event only started in April and it just snowballed from there.

“Everyone has had a really enjoyable day, and we’ve raised lots of money for charity too.”
