A train operator has been announced as the official transport provider for the Leeds Festival.

First TransPennine Express (FTPE) is encouraging festival goers to leave the car at home and travel to the event by train.

The festival, which is being held at Bramham Park, Leeds, over the August Bank Holiday weekend is set to attract 90,000 fans from across the U.K. and will feature headline acts such as Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp.

FTPE are offering special fares starting from £12.00 return or £7.90 when booked with a young persons railcard to both Leeds and York for onward connections to the festival site.

FTPE’s Marketing Manager, Victoria Tomlinson said:

“This is a great opportunity to leave the car and stress behind for festival goers. We are delighted to be supporting Leeds Festival this year and we have introduced some special fares to help fans enjoy the event.

“There are some fantastic bands on and the whole weekend promises to be a sellout. We have regular trains to both Leeds and York from across the north. Customers can buy online.”

With up to eight trains an hour to Leeds and six to York festival goers will have unrivalled choice and will experience quicker journeys allowing more time to soak up the experience and enjoy the music.

The great value tickets are on sale now until August 17th and are exclusive to festival goers.

To make the journey as stress free as possible FTPE has also teamed up with the festival’s official coach providers, Geldards, to allow fans to buy their transfers from Leeds or York stations to Bramham Park. Transfer tickets can be purchased at the same time as the rail tickets.

Festival Republic, the event organisers, said;

“Having the option to travel to Leeds Festival by train is great news for our fans. We know that groups of friends often travel together and the FTPE trains offer more room and comfort than travelling by car.

“The coach transfers also mean there is no worry about where to park or how to get to the site as fans will be dropped and collected right at the entrance of the site.”

“We are pleased that FTPE have been able to join us as official transport providers this year and we are positive that they will contribute to what will be the best Leeds Festival to date.”

Rail tickets and connections can be booked with no booking fee by visiting www.tpexpress.co.uk, where more information is also available and customers can also check the details of their journey, with live departure and arrival details by logging onto FTPE’s GPS enabled mobile site with their SMART phone.

FTPE’s sister company, First Great Western, is the official travel sponsor for the Reading Festival and they too have some good value fares available.
