Mott MacDonald, the leading global management, engineering and development consultancy, has been appointed by the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation as technical and general consultant for the forthcoming Jaipur metro project in India.
The INR 100,000 million (US$ 2.2 billion), 35km long metro project will be comprised of two corridors, north to south and east to west and is a combination of both underground and elevated stations. The metro is being delivered to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and reduce carbon emissions in the city. Jaipur is the second fastest growing city in India and its population is anticipated to reach over 8 million by 2031.
Mott MacDonald will be assisting the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation during the bid process, preparing technical documents and reviewing existing work.

The Jaipur metro project is due for commission mid 2013.
