South West Trains apologises for disruption to services

Listen to this article

South West Trains have issued the following statement regarding disrupted services this week:

‘We are sorry for disruption you may have experienced this week due to problems with our train service. These were caused by several incidents including a failure of signal equipment in the Waterloo area and a rail defect in the Winchester area on Monday 28 February.

Many of you also experienced disruption to services throughout yesterday. This was originally caused by a person hit by a train at Waterloo Station in the morning. We were close to returning to a normal service in the afternoon when signal equipment failure at Wimbledon caused further disruption.

Further problems were also encountered this morning when a car hit a road bridge near Basingstoke

We appreciate the inconvenience these problems may have caused you this week and we continue to work in partnership with Network Rail to keep disruption to a minimum.’
