Listen to this article

Banedanmark has finished a DKK 750 million upgrade to the railway between Vamdrup and Vojens.

The project, which began in 2014, involved the construction of a new 20-kilometre line, removing a significant bottleneck on the rail freight corridor linking Sweden and Germany.

As well as double-tracking, the existing line speed has been increased to 160 km/h.

Hans Christian Schmidt, transport and construction minister: “The previous single track between Vamdrup and Vojens has for several years been a bottleneck.

“It has bothered both passengers and businesses in the area and have been an impediment for local development.”

Other works included renewals at Vamdrup and Vojens stations and the construction of two new bridges.
