Algiers commissions full tramway

Listen to this article

Algerian Minister of Transport Boudjema Talai attended the opening of the final section of Algiers tram network earlier this week.

Delivered by the Mediterrail consortium – a Todini, Etrhb and Alstom partnership – on behalf of Entreprise Métro d’Alger (EMA), the 23-kilometre network connections the city’s Ruisseaux and Dergana districts.

With the opening of the fourth phase of the system, the network now includes 38 stops.

Alstom, which is the leader of the consortium, has supplied 41 Citadis trams as well as the tracklaying, operating, communications and signalling systems.

Alstom also holds a 10-year maintenance contract for the network.
