Alpiq acquires italian subsidiary of Balfour Beatty

Swiss energy service provider Alpiq has acquired Balfour Beatty Rail’s Italian electrification subsidiary,Balfour Beatty Rail S.p.A.

Balfour Beatty Rail S.p.A is the latest in a series of assets to be disposed by Balfour Beatty in the past 18 months.

Announcing the sale, Alpiq said: “With this acquisition, Alpiq expands its transport technology business geographically and gains strong and comprehensive know-how in the sectors of railway and mass transit electrification as well as first-class technology and resources.”

Established in 1926, Balfour Beatty Rail S.p.A. employs around 120 employees. The company specialises in delivering turnkey railway electrification solutions for conventional, high-speed, metro and light rail networks.
