Beijing Metro has placed an order for 60 driverless trains from China Northern Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation (CNR).
The vehicles, which will be delivered from May 2015, will operate on the Yan Fang Line – the first of the city’s line’s to use Unattended Train Operation (UTO) and the first line in China to implement a UTO system supplied by a domestic manufacturer.
From Yanhua and the Zhoukoudianzhen branch line, the Yan Fang Line merges at Reolefu before terminating at Cheliangduan.
The line is expected to open in December 2015.
