The driver of the 17:25 East Coast service from Newcastle to London’s Kings Cross reported hitting a man around 7pm yesterday.
However, following a search by police and a helicopter, the man has not yet been found.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said:
“At 6:57pm on Monday 13 June, British Transport Police and South Yorkshire Police officers were called to the line close to Arksey Lane crossing, Arksey, Doncaster following a report of a man having been struck by a train.
“The incident was reported by the driver of the 17:25 hours Newcastle to London King’s Cross East Coast service.
“An extensive search of the lines and surrounding area was conducted, involving both ground units and a helicopter, but no casualty has been found. Local hospitals have been checked, but with no result so far and enquiries are continuing.
“British Transport Police is concerned for the man’s welfare and would like him to make contact with police immediately.
