New footbridge opens at Uddingston station

Listen to this article

Colleagues from Scotland’s Railway met on 26 June to conduct final inspections on 75-tonne footbridge which was installed at the station in March.

The old footbridge will be removed this Saturday night. There will be temporary parking changes on the Platform 2 side overnight to allow crane access.

The next phase of work is to upgrade the station’s power supply to support the two new lifts which are set to open to the public later this summer.

To enable these works, we need to close the road and car park on the Glasgow-bound platform 1 side. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Signage has already been installed.

Once complete, the new structure will make it easier to use the station for those with mobility difficulties, and people travelling with bicycles, pushchairs or heavy luggage.
