The Watercress Line is inviting guests to experience the glamour and Blitz spirit of the 1940s, as it transforms into a WW2 railway. War On The Line will feature both civilian and military re-enactors to really make visitors feel as if they are in Churchill’s Britain.

There will be vintage vehicles, live music, dancing and historic displays. Guests can enjoy a 1940s makeover at Pearl’s Pin-up Parlour at Ropley Station, then emerge to see an incredible Spitfire flypast, subject to weather conditions.

Visitors are invited to immerse themselves into the WW2 era, whether they wish to dress up in their own costume, get their hair and make-up done or come in civilian attire and soak up the atmosphere.

Simon Baggott, General Manager at the Watercress Line said: “The WW2 era on the railways was a time of great resourcefulness, pulling together and using that famous Blitz spirit  – all to the backdrop of iconic music and fashion. We can’t wait to see visitors kitted out in their 1940s attire, enjoying the vintage steam trains and vehicles and music from the era. It looks set to be a really enjoyable weekend.’
