Train eviction ‘Big Man’ charged with assault

A man has been charged with assault after allegedly removing a ‘fare-dodger’ from an Edinburgh to Perth ScotRail service.

Another passenger filmed the event which has been viewed nearly two million times on YouTube.

The video, filmed on 9 December, appears to show the ‘Big Man’ throwing the teenager off a train after he was seen arguing with the conductor over his ticket.

British Transport Police said a 35-year-old man from Stirling had been charged with assault.

The student allegedly involved in the incident, Sam Mains, has also been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for ‘breach of the peace and trespass’.
