Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) has extended an order for new Citadis trams from Alstom.
The French manufacturer will supply an extra 10 units in a deal worth €28 million. The contract is a call-off under a framework contract signed in November 2014 between the two companies.
The latest order will give CTS a fleet of 63 Citadis trams.
The first 12 trams ordered in 2014 are due to go into passenger service at the end of April. As well as operating on line A, the new 45-metre vehicles will serve the cross-border extension of line D between Strasbourg and Kehl in Germany.
Gauge testing on the cross-border line on the German side of the line began this week.
