Early works award for Skanska on Mälaren line in Sweden

Sweden’s transport agency Trafikverket has awarded Skanska a SEK 300 million (∼€29 million) contract for early works on the Mälaren line.

Sweden-based Skanska will implement lot E9961, which covers preparatory tunnel and station work on the stretch of the railway between Sundbyberg and Solna.

Work will begin in November and continue until February 2021.

The Mälarbanan project will see the 20km railway line between Tomteboda and
Kallhäll upgraded from two to four tracks, providing commuters services with dedicated tracks on what is currently a part of the network that has reached its full capacity.

Four new stations will be built as part of the project: Kallhäll, Barkarby, Sundbyberg and Huvudsta
