The first of 39 CRRC Qingdao Sifang train-sets for the Chongqing Metro system has arrived.

The six-car train will run on Line 5 in the southwest Chinese municipality of Chongqing.

Once it is operational, the train will run at a maximum speed of 100km/h, carrying up to 2,322 passengers.

CRRC said that the deepest section of Line 5 is around 50 metres underground, making it the deepest metro line in the whole country, and it has specially designed the trains for the region. They also have a larger driving force and a smaller turning circle.

Located in east China’s port city of Qingdao, CRRC Qingdao Sifang designs and manufactures a variety of bullet trains, metro cars and trams.
