Northern is celebrating Pride Month alongside colleagues and the communities across its rail network.

The train operator is a sponsor of this weekend’s Blackpool Pride and is getting to ready to join the party.

The one-day event on Saturday, June 11 will celebrate all things LGBTQ+ as the seaside resort with live music and a parade – which Northern colleagues will take part in.

Northern is also making donations to events across its network including Manchester Pride which takes place in August.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern said, “We work hard to promote equality, diversity and inclusion of all communities within our business and among those we serve.

“We want to celebrate with our colleagues and customers, while also supporting one of the largest Pride events in the UK outside Manchester and London.

“Blackpool has a high demographic of LGBTQ+ customers and we’re looking forward to connecting with them, both at the station and at the event itself – thank you to all of our colleagues that have volunteered to help on the day.

“We are extremely proud of our work with pride events across our network and our sponsorship of Blackpool Pride is another visible statement of support for the LGBTQ+ community.”

Last year Northern launched its new Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy, outlining its commitment to developing an inclusive working environment and being truly representative of the communities it serves.
