Sheffield-based rail safety specialist, Zonegreen, will be sharing its knowledge and experience with the sector at this year’s Railtex exhibition.
The firm’s technical director, Christian Fletcher, a leading expert in depot protection, will be holding workshops during the event discussing the risks to maintenance staff.
Zonegreen is running the informative and educational seminars on stand D17 throughout the three-day exhibition, held on May 10-12 at Olympia in London. It will discuss the lack of reduction in workforce harm across the industry in the last five years, which results in depots accounting for 20% of all injuries, whilst demonstrating how technology can help mitigate human error in depot environments.
The firm will also be showcasing its flagship Depot Personnel Protection System (DPPS), which allows the safe and effective control of rail vehicles in maintenance facilities and provides physical protection for depot personnel. Both its hardware and software has been independently certified to meet the performance requirements of SIL 2 – a reliability assessment of the relative risk reduction provided by a safety system.
Christian said: “A great deal of research goes into the continual development of DPPS and we want to share our findings with delegates at Railtex, in a bid to encourage greater awareness and focus on the safety of depot workers. We believe applying robust technology to this inherently dangerous environment can dramatically reduce the risks it poses to staff, whilst improving operational efficiency.”
