Sweden: CAF trams for Lund

Listen to this article

The Swedish city of Lund has said its new tram fleet will have a particular focus on accessibility after signing a contract with CAF for seven new light rail vehicles.

CAF will also maintain the trams, which will operate on the Lund C – EES tramway, for a period of 10 years.

The contract was signed on June 21.

Skånetrafiken is building a new 5.5 km light rail route between Lund Central station and Brunnshög. The line is due to open in summer 2020.

The low-floor vehicles are based on CAF’s Urbos 100 platform. Skånetrafiken and CAF have stressed the available space for prams and wheelchairs, as well as the Wi-Fi hotspots in the trams and at tram stops.
