Tatravagonka manufactures flat cars for Russian Railways

Listen to this article

In the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Russian Railways and Tatravagonka in Slovakia, the first batch of articulated flat cars (Model 13-9851) for the transportation of large containers has been manufactured.

The development of the platform was carried out in accordance with the technical requirements of Russian Railways.

The platform is designed for transporting 45-foot containers, as well as four 20-foot containers loaded to full capacity.

It has an increased wagon base, which makes for a reduction of the number of wagons in the train and of rolling stock operating costs for maintenance by reducing the number of bogies and an automatic coupler. The wagons have been ordered by TransContainer, a subsidiary of Russian Railways.
