Delhi Metro awards broad-gauge train contract to BEML

Indian heavy equipment manufacturer BEML has been awarded a Rs.645 crores ($100 million) to build 74 new broad-gauge metro cars for Delhi Metro.

BEML was a member of the MRM consortium that supplied Delhi Metro’s Phase 1 trains.

Shri H S Anand, director, rolling stock, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, signed the contract in Bangalore alongside senior BEML executives.

Having entered the metro market in 2002, BEML has built 600 metro cars for Delhi, 150 cars for Bangalore Metro and 40 cars for Jaipur Metro.
