Bombardier announces jobs boost

Listen to this article

Bombardier has said it plans to create 150 new skilled jobs during a visit from British Prime Minister David Cameron.

In an announcement, the company said that half of the new jobs will be in engineering specialisms and half will be in areas such as project management and procurement. Around 80 per cent of the jobs will be created in Derby.

As well as these new roles, Bombardier has committed to creating 40 positions for apprentices and graduates every year.

Noel Travers, managing director of Bombardier Transportation UK said: “Bombardier has worked extremely hard to develop good relationships with politicians from the Government and all UK political parties and we were delighted to host the Chancellor’s visit.

“The event provided an opportunity for the Chancellor to witness first-hand progress with the high-profile Crossrail project and other ongoing developments in our business, including our current recruitment drive.”
