DB reports record demand for international services

Deutsche Bahn (DB) has said record numbers of passengers used international rail services to France, Belgium and the Netherlands in 2014.

More than 4.85 million passengers used the cross-border services last year. The number of international journeys being made between France, Belgium and the Netherlands increased by 3, 1.5 and 7 per cent respectively.

The figures showed that rail continued represent the market share (67 per cent) of journeys between Stuttgart and Paris.

The biggest increase came in journeys between Germany and the Netherlands. Almost 2.2 million passengers used ICE services between Frankfurt, Cologne and Amsterdam and Berlin, Hannover and Amsterdam last year, setting a new passenger record for the third year in a row.
