Listen to this article

The Chinese city of Suzhou has opened its first tram line.

CSR Puzhen has supplied 18 low-floor trams to the city, utilising Bombardier bogies and traction systems obtained through a 10-year licensing agreement.

The five-car units are based on the higher capacity Flexity 2 model at 32 metres long and 2.65 metres wide.

Zhang Jianwei, president of Bombardier China, said: “I think both CSR Puzhen and Bombardier have reason to be proud of this important achievement in their cooperation and I am confident that the people and visitors of Suzhou city will soon be convinced of the speed and comfort this modern transit system offers.”
