Hong Kong’s rail operator MTR has awarded Faiveley Transport a €13 million contract to upgrade door systems on 90 trains.

The new doors will “be upgraded with a state-of-the-art noise attenuation system and lower guiding rail providing a quieter passenger ride and increased reliability”.

“Using our proven know-how and applying our Services strategy based on innovative solutions and cost optimisation, we offered an upgrade instead of a complete new door replacement.

Benoit Birault, Faiveley Transport managing director in Hong Kong, said: “After the concept was validated through a pilot scheme using Faiveley Transport’s solution deployed on three trains, MTRC opened the competition to international tenderers.

“Faiveley Transport was selected amid tough competition.”
