Singapore awards S $1.15bn metro line contracts

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded contracts worth a combined S $1.15 billion for the Thomson and Eastern Region Lines.

The winners of two civils contracts for the construction of three stations and contracts covering the installation of S&T systems and platform screen doors across both lines have been announced.

A RSEA Engineering Corporation /Eng Lee Engineering/Wai Fong Construction Joint Venture is to construct the Thompson Line’s Mt Pleasant station and the associated tunnelling works, while Daewoo Engineering & Construction is to deliver Stevens station and Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure is to build Maxwell station.

Construction for all three stations will commence in the second quarter of 2014 and is expected to be complete by 2021.

Other contracts included the signalling system and platform screen doors for both the Thomson and Eastern Region Lines, which will be installed by a GE Transportation consortium.

Finally, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited has won a S $124 million contract for Thomson and Eastern Region Lines’ communications system.
