Thales is to install modern signalling and traffic management systems on a 125-kilometre stretch of railway in Poland.

An ETCS Level 2 signalling system, ERTMS and a GSM-R communications system will be fitted on one of Poland’s main line routes between Warszawa and Łódź.

The €100 million contract, which also included the design and operation of a control centre in Skierniewice, was awarded by Poland’s infrastructure manager PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.

New S&T systems will increase the line’s maximum speed to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight.
