Listen to this article

Slovenian Railways saw its performance and its finances grow in 2013, with both freight volumes and passenger numbers increasing.

Operating income rose by 10 per cent to €498 million, resulting in a profit of €18.6 million.

Nine per cent extra tonnes of cargo was transported in 2013, 17.63 tonnes, across both domestic and international traffic.

Passenger numbers rose by 883,000 to 16.4 million. Slovenian Railways attributed the increase to the introduction of a new subsidized service for younger passengers.
