ADIF has awarded a €28 million electrification contract to Alstom and Isolux Corsán.

The joint venture will supply the traction substation and catenary system for the 44.3-kilometre high-speed line currently being constructed between Leon and Asturias.

As well as installing the equipment, Alstom and Isolux Corsán will maintain the electrification components along the route, which includes the 25-kilometre long Pajares Tunnel [pictured].

The project is set to be completed in 2015.
