Eurostar disrupted by anti-austerity protests

Listen to this article

Anti-austerity protests across Europe have caused disruption to Eurostar services.

The 10.57 to Brussels has been cancelled and customers are being advised not to travel due to possible disruption throughout the day.

Strikes are being held across the continent as part of the European Day of Action, which is being led by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC).

Protests are expected in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and some other eastern European states.

A statement by ETUC said: “Many countries will be holding actions to show their solidarity with the countries which are facing the brutality of the austerity measures and their consequences.”
