Kiyoshi Yamamoto has been appointed as the new managing director of Hitachi Europe Ltd.
Mr Yamamoto, who is currently executive vice president of Hitachi America, succeeds Akira Shimizu who will now take up the role of general manager of international strategy development.
Mr Yamamoto graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University and joined Hitachi in 1983. Since then, he has served in various supervisory and senior management positions, such as the designing of information and control systems and the management of the Information and Telecommunication Systems’ global business.
Mr Shimizu has served as managing director of Hitachi Europe since April 2010.
Briefly, I wonder whether many British managers and engineers will be appointed to director’s jobs at Hitachi Europe Ltd or will all the top positions be going to personnel brought over from Japan?
Interestingly enough Mike I met with some senior Hitachi Rail Europe People at InnoTrans this week, nearly all of the top UK Managment Team are British, speaking with the man responsible for recruitment for Newton Aycliffe 95% of workers will be British
