Mumbai monsoon causes rail disruption

Listen to this article

Trains in Mumbai suffered delays of up to an hour after heavy rain caused mass travel disruption across the city.

The worst hit areas were the suburbs of Kandivili and Malad, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recording maximum rainfall of 45mm on Thursday (June 28).

More heavy rain has been forecast in the Konkan and Mumbai coasts in the next 24 hours.

Some reports have stated that Central Railway trains were running late by up to an hour because of signal problems across the network.
