East Midlands Trains staff raise £500 for Railway Children

Listen to this article

Sheffield based East Midlands Trains staff Ian Morrish and Matt Dawson recently collected £500 for the Railway Children charity.

The Train Managers sold badges created to commemorate a special charity train operated by East Midlands Trains earlier in the year.

The Mid-Norfolk Marauder, which ran between London St Pancras and Dereham (Norfolk) on Saturday 14 May, raised a total of £24,000 for the Railway Children through ticket sales, an on board raffle, sell-out food sales and a specially created beer sold on the train.

In addition, East Midlands Trains staff supporting the event either donated their day’s wages, or worked on their day off to help raise the maximum amount of money for the charity.

Ian Morrish and Matt Dawson took the initiative to have special one-off badges made to sell on the day and after the event, and have raised an additional £500 for the Railway Children.
