GTR Thameslink and TSSA sign recognition agreement

Listen to this article

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) have signed a recognition agreement for Operational Control staff based at Three Bridges, Victoria and York.

The recognition deal was reached voluntarily through negotiation after TSSA clearly exceeded the membership threshold within the Operational Control bargaining unit.

Manuel Cortes, TSSA General Secretary, said: “I’m delighted that our union has secured statutory recognition for control staff at GTR. We have had a longstanding presence in these workplaces, but gaining formal recognition means these railway workers will now have the added benefit of official workplace representation and trade union bargaining for pay, hours, holiday and other issues.

“During this period of concern around Coronavirus, and changes to our rail industry, it’s fantastic news that our TSSA union will be playing an active role in working for the interests of this group of GTR staff.”
