OOO Vagonmaš, a subsidiary of Škoda Transportation, has been named as the winner of a RUB 3.8 billion (€55 million) tender to supply eight new six-car metro trains to St Petersburg.
The new trains, which will be built in St Petersburg, will serve line 3 of the city’s metro network.
The lightweight aluminium vehicles will use regenerative braking. The first unit is expected to be delivered later this year. Two more vehicles will be delivered in 2016, with the final five arriving in the city in 2017.
