This Christmas, Leeds station received the gift of fast, free and unlimited WiFi as passengers become the latest to benefit from Network Rail’s nationwide roll-out.

Network Rail plans to transform the digital experience – keeping passengers seamlessly connected throughout their journey – with fast, secure WiFi that can be used across multiple devices with a single sign-on.

The new internet service uses the latest technology to offer speeds of over 120 megabytes per second across the entire station, which is enough to allow travellers to stream festive films on-the-go. It is also ‘Friendly WiFi’ certified, meaning it has met the Government’s safe filtering standards for public WiFi.

Nick Cooper, Leeds Station Manager for Network Rail, said: “Our new, fast, free and unlimited WiFi keeps passengers seamlessly connected, no matter where they are in their journey – and with people working more flexibly, it’s more important than ever that people can stay connected while they travel.

“I hope that this comes as an extra Christmas present to those passengers who have been asking for this new service and I’m excited to make the most of the opportunities it opens up for digital experiences at the station.”

After free WiFi was consistently identified by passengers as one of the key improvements that would enhance their station experience, Network Rail has installed the service at some of Britain’s biggest and busiest railway stations, including London King’s Cross and London Liverpool Street.
