Sella Controls, part of the HIMA Group, has announced the contract award by Northern Trains Ltd for the Lot 2 CIS Replacement Programme GRIP5 (ES5) to GRIP8 (ES8).
The scope of works shall cover GRIP4 & GRIP5 Design, equipment supply, installation and commissioning of 269 Customer Information Displays as well as Long Line Public Address systems at 68 stations across the Northern Rail network. Old legacy equipment will be replaced by new Infotec White LEDs and TFTs.
New displays will also be installed at many stations currently without Customer Information Systems further enhancing NTL’s commitment to improving passenger experience. Sella Controls will also be installing and enhancing new PA systems across these stations.

With the ongoing requirement to improve customer experience on the railway, Station Information & Surveillance Systems (SISS) now play an important role in enhancing the passenger’s experience and providing passengers with real-time information. Sella Controls has extensive experience working in SISS and is regarded as a market leader within the sector of rail telecommunications.

The project is currently progressing through the design stage with the first installations due to take place in the summer.
