A new platform is being created at Bushey station which will allow London Midland to reintroduce later evening weekend services.

Weekend engineering works have meant that platforms were not available for later evening London Midland services to call at Bushey on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday morning services were also affected.

Network Rail expects the work to be completed for the December 2011 timetable.

The scheme was announced to residents at a well-attended neighbourhood forum in Oxhey after London Midland and local councillors met with Network Rail route director Jo Kaye.

London Midland head of franchise management, Nicola Moss, said: “We’re delighted to be able to respond to local demand and work with Network Rail to ensure we can reintroduce later evening stops at Bushey. This is great news for passengers in Bushey.”

Network Rail route director Jo Kaye said: “Bringing the disused platform back into use will give us the flexibility we need to carry out vital weekend maintenance without disrupting passengers in Bushey.

“This is a great example of Network Rail working with our partners in the rail industry to give passengers what they want.”
