New, integrated customer information screens (CIS) and help-points have been unveiled at Diss station today as part of a series of customer improvements introduced at the South Norfolk station by National Express East Anglia (NXEA) over recent months.

The newly designed CIS and help-points are located on both the Norwich and London-bound platforms and are the first of their type to be installed at an NXEA station.

The units include a display screen providing information on train arrivals and departures as well as an in-built help-point where customers can make enquiries via a central information point.

The new information units complement the existing customer information systems provided and will assist station staff in improving communication with passengers.

Councillor Tony Palmer of South Norfolk District Council officially unveiled the new CIS / help-points and commented:

“As Chairman of the Diss Rail Station Group, I am appreciative of the many improvements to the station which have resulted from our regular meetings with National Express and other stakeholders.

“The new help point and information screen is a valuable facility for visitors.”

Other improvements made at the station recently include a new and improved ramp access, rebuilt steps and increased parking facilities with complete upgrade of the CCTV in the car park.

The station is also undergoing a programme of re-wiring and lighting renewal, and the independently owned DJ’s Coffee Shop has been improved and renovated.

Jackie Gibbs, Head of Customer Service, North for National Express East Anglia said:

“I am delighted that we have enhanced information provision for our customers at Diss as part of a series of improvements introduced at the station.

“Diss is an important and busy gateway for rail passengers from South Norfolk and the Waveney Valley and we are determined to continue to improve the service we provide for our customers.”
