Rail users in Brentwood and Shenfield will have the chance to find out more about the improvements Crossrail will bring to their railway at a public information day this week.

Crossrail is the new high frequency, convenient and accessible railway for London and the south east.

The project will enhance public transport capacity at Brentwood and Shenfield; new and faster direct travel opportunities will be available to the City, West End, and Heathrow.

As part of the project, improvements will be made to Brentwood and Shenfield stations.

Network Rail, which is delivering these works on behalf of Crossrail, is currently developing its outline designs for the stations.

To give local people the opportunity to find out more about the project, Crossrail and Network Rail are holding a public information day in the Gwendoline Lewis room in Shenfield Parish Hall on Wednesday 27 July between 2.30pm-8pm.

Members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions about the improvements being made to the railway and to stations.

Simon Bennett, Crossrail head of stakeholder engagement, said:

“Crossrail will enhance public transport capacity for Brentwood and Shenfield, providing new and faster direct travel opportunities to the City, West End, and Heathrow.

“We invite everyone to come along to our public information session to find out more about this exciting project.”

Tony Rai, Network Rail project manager, said:

“Network Rail is making a multi-billion pound investment to transform the existing railway to make Crossrail a success.

“We’re delighted to be able to show the people of Brentwood and Shenfield the progress we’re making in our designs for Crossrail’s north-east section.

“This work will prepare the way for more seats, better stations and a more frequent and reliable service for passengers.”
