Chiltern publish draft of new timetable

Chiltern Railways has published a draft timetable for May 2011.

The timetable marks the greatest change in the Chiltern timetable for a decade, and marks the culmination of the Mainline element of the £250 million Evergreen 3 project.  The final draft reflects the responses they received to the first round of consultation conducted in Spring 2010.

Important benefits delivered by this final draft timetable include:

  • Fast trains from Birmingham to London.  Chiltern intend to operate two fast trains from Birmingham Moor Street to London in the morning, and two return trains in the evening which run non-stop from Warwick Parkway. Most of these trains will take just 90 minutes between Birmingham and London.
  • Substantial journey time improvements, spread along the whole London to Birmingham route.
  • Much improved early and late trains, making it easier to reach the City of London by 7am, and with departures leaving London later in the evening.
  • Chiltern claim they have responded to feedback in the first round of consultation regarding the reduction in the off peak service to Beaconsfield, and have restored the four trains per hour currently provided.

Times of trains at all stations will change – in many cases significantly – but will continue to provide a frequency of service equivalent to the current timetable, but with faster journey times.
