Authorities in Zurich have chosen Bombardier to supply a fleet of new trams for the city.

Bombardier has been awarded a CHF 358 million (€323 million) order for 70 Flexity 2 trams to replace Zurich’s ageing first and second series Tram 2000 units.

The 43-metre trams have a greater capacity than the existing vehicles, accommodating a maximum of 276 passengers.

The contract includes spare parts, associated tools and equipment and training of staff.

The first vehicles will start to arrive in December 2018, with the final trams due to be delivered in 2023.
