Work to start on Lund tramway later this year

Listen to this article

Lund’s city council has said the construction of its new light rail system will begin later this year after approving the project.

Councillors gave the 5.5-kilometre double-track tramway the green light on December 17.

Tender documents are now available online for both the infrastructure works and the rolling stock. The line will initially operate a fleet of seven trams.

The city council plans to eventually extend the line to Dalby. Work is expected to begin in late 2016 and be completed in 2019.
