Vital Rail extends York operations

Rail contracting specialists Vital Rail, part of the Manchester-based Vital Services Group, have reopened a regional office in York ‘on the back of steady growth in the rail sector’.

Increased orders from a number of clients based on or around the East Coast Main Line (ECML) have prompted the company to open an office in York once again.

Nick Baxter, Regional Director of Vital Rail North, said:

“Despite the cost reductions which are flowing through the industry following the publication of the McNulty report, we have actually seen quite a strong and steady increase in work recently.

“We put this down to a combination of the rail contractors further reducing their supply chains – for which we have retained our preferred supplier status and the increased demand for our contracting services under which we deliver fixed price packages of work.”
