Bombardier has handed back the first of 40 Great Northern Class 365s undergoing a major overhaul.

The unit, which carries passengers between London Kings Cross, Peterborough, Cambridge and King’s Lynn, has had new seat upholstery and flooring installed and features a new ‘neutral’ exterior livery.

FCC refurb 2Eversholt Rail awarded Bombardier Transportation a contract worth around £30 million to overhaul First Capital Connect’s entire fleet of Class 365 carriages.

Over the next two years, each car will also undergo a major engineering service.

Francis Paonessa, president, Rolling Stock & Services, Bombardier UK, said: “Bombardier is pleased to be delivering the upgraded and modernised 365 units, providing increased comfort, reliability and accessibility for passengers travelling on the Great Northern route.

“Our team in Ilford have done an excellent job in delivering a quality product including a significant transformation of the passengers’ environment, just nine weeks after contract signature on November 7.”
