UK engineers wanted for Hong Kong rail projects

The MTR Corporation are looking for UK engineers to complete a number of major infrastructure projects in Hong Kong.

Rail Personnel, in partnership with Resourcing Solutions, is looking for rail engineers to work on projects including the West Island Line, South Island Line (East), Express Rail Link (Hong Kong section), Shatin to Central Link and Kwun Tong Line Extension.

Consultancy studies conducted by the company identified the UK as the top priority country for recruiting qualified engineers.

Hong Kong is currently experiencing high demand for qualified engineering professionals following the launch of a number of major infrastructure projects.

In 2013, a total of 2,700 engineers will be working on MTR’s railway projects.

Since 2009, the corporation has looked to resource from overseas and a review of the strategy for overseas recruitment – which took into account the manpower requirement, particularly in scarce disciplines, such as tunnelling, rolling stock and geotechnical – identified the UK as a key recruitment target.

Resourcing Solutions and Rail Personnel are now trying to fill 30 key positions from the UK engineering industry.
