A VINCI/Spie batignolles consortium has been awarded a €400 million tunnelling contract for the Grand Paris Express project.

The consortium will deliver the GC02 package of works for RATP which covers the Line 14 South extension between Olympiades and Orly Airport.

The contract includes excavating a 4.6 km tunnel between the future Maison Blanche Paris XIII station and the launch shaft at Jean Prouvé.

Delivered over 72 months, VINCI and Spie batignolles will also build the new Kremlin Bicêtre Hôpital station and five ventilation and emergency shafts.

VINCI Construction and Spie batignolles are already involved in the extension of Lines 4, 12, and 14 of the Paris Metro as part of the Grand Paris Express scheme.

VINVI said the contract will create around 250 jobs and made a commitment to create roles for 50 people in long-term unemployment.
