Trenitalia agrees new deal for Trentino rail services

Listen to this article

Trenitalia has ordered an extra six EMUs as part of a new service agreement with Italy’s Trentino region.

The existing agreement between Trenitalia and Trentino expired at the end of last year. The new deal, which includes an order with Alstom for six new Coradia Meridian trains, will run until 2024.

The new six-car trains form part of a framework order placed with the French manufacturer in 2012.

The Coradia Meridian units, which will be delivered from the end of this year, will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h and can hold around 300 seated passengers.
